South county roundup: Othello baseball falls to Grandview, ousted from postseason

SELAH — Othello was unable to rally late and was eliminated from the postseason by Grandview 5-3.

The Huskies built a 2-0 lead before the Greyhounds responded with five straight runs.

Jay Rodriguez doubled and drove in a run. Josh Garza also had an RBI.

Royal 12, Connell 5

ROYAL CITY — Royal nailed down the No. 2 spot in the SCAC East with a win over Connell 12-5.

Royal rallied from a 2-0 deficit with 10 unanswered runs. Kevin Reyes and JC Worsham both doubled; Worsham also pitched 5 2/3 innings with five strikeouts.

Boys soccer

Wahluke 1, Highland 0

MATTAWA ­— Orlando Erazo scored the game’s long goal and Wahluke won its district opener 1-0.

Erazo scored off a pass from Alan Contreras. Wahluke hosts Connell in the district semifinals on May 7.
